The Notts Branch of the Royal British Legion visit Red Dog Transport
The team at Red Dog Transport are dedicated to supporting our local community and has been exploring how we can mark the D-Day 80th Anniversary. Finally, we made our decision, we would contact our local branch of the Royal British Legion, City of Nottingham to ask how we can help them.
Dave Thomas, the Chairman of the City of Nottingham Branch RBL explained that: “We are a newly formed committee and one of the oldest branches within the Royal British Legion. Our aim is to reach out amongst communities in Nottingham and increase branch engagement locally.”
He continued, “I personally see including our youth, the next generation, who may in the future join HM Forces and be the ones who continue as the custodians of Remembrance. Recently we have engaged with the Nottingham Sea Cadets TS Orion and signed them up as an affiliated youth organisation. As part of that affiliation, the branch committee would like to present the Sea Cadets with an embroidered badge which can be sewn on their mufti for when they have activities when the uniform is not worn, and a contribution towards the cost of these would be very welcome.”
On Tuesday 4 June, the Nottingham City Secretary Sharon Watson and Standard Bearer Ken Childs came along to our offices. Billy Hanna who works in the Traffic Management team, presented them with our donation of £500.00.
